What is Nextworld?
Nextworld is a cloud-based platform for business applications. Nextworld calls it no-code: you build apps by setting up fields, tables, rules and screens, instead of writing programming code. You may also see this kind of tool called low-code.
It comes with ready-made apps for financials, sales, procurement (purchasing), manufacturing and projects. You can use them as they are, change them, or build your own apps alongside them. Nextworld says it is designed to work alongside the systems you already have, including your ERP (enterprise resource planning: the main system for finance, stock and orders).
Nextworld was founded in 2016 by enterprise software veterans, including Ed McVaney of JD Edwards.
The main parts
- Developer Studio: the tools for building apps, business rules (called logic blocks), workflows, reports and dashboards.
- Packaged apps: ready-made apps for financials, sales, procurement, manufacturing, projects and master data.
- Integrations: REST APIs (a standard way for systems to swap data over the web), connectors and scheduled imports.
- Environments: usually separate Development, Test and Production copies, so changes are tested before staff see them.
Why businesses use it
Change without code: fields, screens and rules are changed in the tools, not by rewriting programming code.
Changes kept through upgrades: your customised version stays linked to Nextworld’s original, and most updates are merged in for you.
Fewer side spreadsheets: Nextworld aims to replace the spreadsheets and manual workarounds that grow around business systems. It calls these “Shadow ERP”.
Connects to other systems: tables and business rules can be reached through REST APIs, and there are connectors for systems such as JD Edwards.
Test before go-live: separate environments let you check changes before they reach the people who use them.
What we do for you
Implementation support: Nextworld sets up your environments. We help with users, roles and security.
Custom applications: new apps built in Developer Studio, with tables (new or existing), workflows, security, rules, screens and reports.
Customising packaged apps: new fields, screens, process and workflow changes, made with Nextworld’s own customisation tools so upgrades keep working.
Integrations: connecting Nextworld to your other systems through REST APIs, connectors or scheduled imports.
Data import: moving data from spreadsheets or an old system, and checking the figures match.
Release checks and support: before each new Nextworld release, we review what is changing against your customisations to catch issues early. After the upgrade, we test your changes and fix any issues.
Is it right for you?
A good fit if
- You already use Nextworld and need more apps, changes or integrations than your team has time for.
- Your business runs on spreadsheets and side systems around an older ERP.
- You want business rules and screens changed quickly, without a long programming project.
- You are happy for your business system to run in the cloud.
Maybe not if
- Your needs are simple and a standard accounting or sales package already covers them.
- You want the source code, written in a language like C# or Java, to move to another provider later. Custom software suits you better.
- Everything must run on your own servers. Nextworld is a cloud platform; only a small gateway for older systems runs on site.
- You are not ready to commit to a new platform and its licence costs.

Questions we get asked
Something else on your mind? Ask us.
Is Nextworld low-code or no-code?
Nextworld calls it no-code: most work is setting up fields, tables, rules and screens, not writing code. People often use both terms for this kind of tool. Integrations and advanced work still need technical skills.
Does Nextworld replace our current ERP?
Not necessarily. Nextworld says it is designed to work alongside your existing systems. It also has ready-made financials, sales, procurement and manufacturing apps if you want to use them. We help you decide which parts make sense.
Will our changes survive Nextworld upgrades?
Mostly, yes. Your customised version stays linked to Nextworld’s original, and updates are merged in. We check your changes before and after every release.
Can Nextworld connect to JD Edwards, SAP or Salesforce?
Nextworld lists connectors for systems including JD Edwards, SAP, Salesforce and NetSuite. It says any system with an API, a database or a file export can be connected. We check which route fits.
Are you a Nextworld partner?
No. We are independent and work in your own Nextworld environments.
