Cloud Native Development

Applications designed to run in the cloud from day one, so they scale with demand, recover on their own when something fails and are quick to change.

Built for the cloud, not just moved there

Moving an old application onto a cloud server doesn't make it cloud native. It still has the same limits: one big program, slow releases and a single point of failure. Cloud native software is designed differently. It is split into smaller services that can be updated, scaled and fixed on their own.

We design and build these applications with containers, Kubernetes and serverless functions on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or Oracle Cloud. Each service gets clear APIs, automated tests and its own release pipeline, plus logs, metrics and alerts, so you can see what is happening and fix problems quickly.

Not everything needs to be rebuilt. We can modernise an existing system step by step, moving one part at a time while the rest keeps running. If you mainly need hosting, release pipelines or a move to the cloud for software you already have, our Cloud & DevOps service covers that.

Included

What's included

  • Cloud native application development: new applications designed to scale and recover on their own

  • Microservices and APIs: smaller services with clear, documented APIs, so each part can change without breaking the rest

  • Containers and Kubernetes: packaging and running services so they start, scale and restart automatically

  • Serverless: functions and event-driven processing that run only when needed, so you pay only for what you use

  • Per-service release pipelines: build, test and release steps designed into each service, so every change ships on its own

  • Observability: logs, metrics, tracing and alerts, so problems are found and fixed quickly

  • Modernising older applications: breaking them into cloud native services step by step, while the rest keeps running. To lift existing software into the cloud as it is, see our Cloud & DevOps service

Technologies we use

  • AWS
  • Azure
  • Azure DevOps
  • Google Cloud
  • Oracle Cloud (OCI)
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • AWS Lambda
  • Azure Functions
  • Node.js
  • TypeScript
  • .NET
  • Java
  • OpenTelemetry

Is it right for you?

A good fit if

  • Your application slows down or fails when many people use it at once
  • Small changes take weeks to release because everything is tied together
  • You are building a new product that needs to grow with your customers
  • You have an older system you want to move to the cloud one part at a time

Maybe not if

  • You have a small website or internal tool that works well on simple hosting
  • Your usage is steady and predictable, and one well-run server does the job
  • You only need hosting or release pipelines for software you already have

Process

How we work

  1. Talk

We listen first. A short call to understand what you need and what success looks like.

  2. Plan

We agree scope, timeline and cost in writing before work starts.

  3. Build

We build in stages and show you progress along the way.

  4. Support

After launch we stay available for fixes, updates and improvements.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Something else on your mind? Ask us.

What does cloud native mean?

Software designed to run in the cloud from the start, usually as smaller services in containers or serverless functions, so it can scale, recover from failures and be updated often.

How is this different from Cloud & DevOps?

Cloud native is about how the software itself is designed and built. Cloud & DevOps covers hosting, release pipelines and looking after the systems it runs on. Many projects use both.

Do we need microservices?

Not always. For a small team or a simple product, one well-built application is often easier to run. We recommend microservices only where the benefits outweigh the extra moving parts.

What is serverless?

A way of running code without managing servers. The cloud provider runs your code when it is needed and you pay for the time it runs. AWS Lambda and Azure Functions are common examples.

Can you modernise our existing application?

Yes. We usually move one part at a time, starting with the part that causes the most trouble, while the rest keeps running. That keeps risk and cost under control.

Will this lock us into one cloud provider?

It can, so we discuss it early. Containers and Kubernetes make it easier to move between providers. Serverless and managed services save time but tie you more closely to one.
